Carlos Correa, American League Rookie of the Year in 2015 and a World Series champion in 2017. And Carlos Colón Sr., in the WWE Hall of Fame. Also La Ciudad de los Potros, the city of colts, for the horse-breeding farms.
The land is agricultural on a serious scale — mango, guineo, avocado — which is why it is also Capital de la Agricultura. The Central Cortada refinery worked the cane. El Malecón runs along the water and Jauca is the beach. Fiestas Patronales de Santiago Apóstol run in July.
In Hurricane María close to 500 people had to be rescued here and roughly 12,000 homes were damaged or destroyed.
